Christmas Gifts for children

At Christmas, so many of us are blessed to be able to give and receive gifts, between family, friends and colleagues.

Sadly, there are families in our communities for whom simply paying essential bills and buying food is a daily struggle, meaning that buying even a single gift for their child or children this Christmas is impossible.

Once again this year, we are appealing to anyone who feels able to help, by asking for donations of Christmas gifts for children in families such as these.  The gift doesn't have to be from a child, it could be from anyone, of any age who is able to buy a gift for a child who would otherwise not receive anything this Christmas.

If you feel able to help in this very special way; once you have chosen a gift, please wrap it, and attach a tag identifying the age and gender of the child for which the gift would be most suitable.

Gifts may be left at Kirkcudbright Parish Church on Sunday 4th December, either during
the 9.30am service, the 11am service, or during the Christmas Tree Festival opening times.  (12 - 4pm).

The gifts will be distributed in the run up to Christmas with the help of agencies who have identified families who are in particular need at this time.

Thank you so much for considering this appeal, and for helping if you possibly can.

All Age Family Entertainment

It has been proposed that an 'All Age Family Entertainment' be held in the Church Hall on Thursday 29th December.

To make this event a great success, we would love folk to volunteer to share their special talent (or talents) for everyone to enjoy!  Perhaps you can play a musical instrument, sing, juggle, perform conjuring tricks, tell jokes, lead community singing........if you'd like to be part of the entertainment please get in touch!

Please contact the Manse Office on 01557 330489 or email;

A Light For Aleppo

A light for Aleppo.

Offering a light in the darkness, to show those who face daily conflict and starvation, that the world is spreading out beacons of vigilance and hope.

At 5pm on Sunday 20th November, as the dark nights begin to draw in, communities will gather along the Firth of Forth in Scotland and in other sites around the world to light lights of hope for those besieged in Aleppo.

Join in wherever you are, or place lit candles or lamps in the windows of your own homes. If you can, please donate to Oxfam, Medicin Sans Frontieres, Caritas Internationalis or the Society of the Red Cross and Red Crescent who are working in the region.

All people still living in war zones around the world have less and less food to live on each day, fewer and fewer medical supplies to respond to the constant arms attacks, and aid cannot easily get through. We want them to know that wherever they are they are not forgotten, and the world is watching.
When we are helpless to do much, we can answer the darkness by sending messages of light around the world
